Managing Views

All views handled by RealOpInsight Ultimate are required to be registered within the RealOpInsight View Datastore by administrators. We describe there how to deal with the creation of description files, their importation, as well as their deletion to/from the RealOpInsight system.

Create Description Files

Refer to the RealOpInsight Editor Guide to learn how to create and edit description files. Due to the fact that the Editor is released with the RealOpInsight Workstation, you would need to install it on your workstation.

Register Description Files

Once created, here are the steps to register a description file into the View Datastore:

  • Select the menu Import from the View Management section. A file selection will appear.

  • Select the description file from your local file system and click on Upload to start the upload.

  • Once uploaded, the view management system will verify that the file corresponds to a valid description file. Invalid file are rejected. In all the cases, a message will be displayed to inform you about the completion status.

Preview View

After description files have been successfully registered within the View Datastore, before assign them to your operators we highly recommend that you preview them to ensure that they work as expected. Indeed you should make sure that all sources, status data, as well as business rules just work fine.

Here are the steps for making preview a registered view:

  • Select the menu Preview from the View Management section. A dialog will appear to let you select the view to visualize.

  • Select the view you want to preview from the selection list.

  • The view will be loaded within a tab that will be automatically created.

Warning

You can preview many views as you want, but note that this may impact the performance of your server.

Access Permissions

A newly registered view is neither accessible nor visible to regular users. For each view, and for each user that will operate the view, administrators must explicitly grant the permission to access this view to that user. When necessary administrators also have the ability to revoke this permission, or even delete the view

The manage registered views as well as access permissions, select the menu All Views and Access Permissions from the View Management menu section. The view management interface is comprised of the following elements:

  • A User List at the top (combo box), that enables to select the user to that view-access permissions will be granted or revoked.
  • An Assigned-View List, where views already assigned to the selected user are displayed. The list is empty when not user is selected.
  • A Not-Assigned View List, where views not yet assigned to the selected user are displayed. When not user is selected, all registered views are listed.
